I was searching for a free desktop program to help me convert PDF file to image.
I have tried PDFMate and I find that it does a pretty good job in converting PDF format to images! It provides the option to choose the image resolution which can not be found in other converters.
I also tested the PDF to Epub conversion to read EPUB books on my eReader. The output file preserved the layout of the original PDFs.
I have to say that the free converter does more than my expectation. Excellent software.

I did not test all the options. I simply wanted to convert a PDF document to another format that would give me the option to increase the character size. I found and downloaded this free PDF Converter. In the result, section headers that were all capitals were returned as a jumble of upper and lower case letters. It is not fit to be used. Maybe some of the other options produce more usable results. I didn't feel like wasting more of my time. The other part that annoyed me was that from the start the software started nagging me about buying an upgrade. Yes, I know all about beggars and gift horses, but if you offer a free demo version with the intention of selling the grown-up software, that free version must make people WANT to use your product. It is capable of converting PDF to nice text. I have compared with several PDF tools, including the paid ones. This freeware just works as I want and gives me the best result. It is also able to lock PDF with password and convert PDF to other formats like EPUB, SWF, JPG...
Pros: Convert PDF to text with good formatting. Totally free. Multiple output formats. Can encrypt confidential file. It's just the perfect free PDF converter I'm looking for.
Cons: The advanced options are limited.
